    About the event

Enjoy a guided walk along the towpath where you’ll view a lock and aqueduct to understand the inner workings of the canal. We’ll celebrate the 200th anniversary of construction on this stretch of the canal, while hearing stories about the Garfield family’s connections, as well as experiencing the natural environment around us. Park near the playground at Bacci Park. Follow the "Garfield Trail Event" signs to parking. Please check-in at the Trail's table by 6:30 p.m. Rain or shine. Please dress for the weather. Flat, paved walkway; approximately a mile long. Nature will be all around us: river otter, beaver, birds, spring flowers, budding trees. Water and a healthy snack will be provided. If you wish to eat beforehand, there’s Yours Truly Restaurant and Lockkeepers at Canal and Rockside, or Valley Pizza Co, Bob's Big Boy, Subway, and Mr. Hero at Canal and Granger – very close to our meeting…
